Hi, I’m Jasmint. 🍵

I also go by JasTx and Jasmineteax. I like doing art sometimes.
I started out doing 2D “illustration”, like every other noob and their dog on deviantART.

After leveling up in real life, I learned how to use a bunch of 3D suites and game engines like Maya, Substance Painter and Designer, Zbrush, Unreal Engine and Unity, among many others. Later, I moved to Blender and back to Krita, and use Kdenlive to edit videos. Basically, I’m all for open source… it’s tough not to be after seeing what it’s like on the 3D art scene with Autodesk and Adobe. :')

I hope you enjoy perusing this site! There’s not much to see since this was mainly made to host my FFXI modding tutorials back in the day.

If you have any queries or concerns, feel free to contact me using any of the means listed in the socials. If you also happen to have my Discord, Matrix or IRC, use ’em.
I work a day job so there may be a delay in my responses, but you’re more likely to catch me if you email me.

I use Linux btw. Sorry, just had to get that one out of my system. :D

My stance on AI and NFT

I do not use any form of AI in my illustrations. The only place I use AI is in my texture work as a starting point to shorten the amount of work involved in upscaling the textures, and removing compression artefacts.
AI upscaling has been around for much longer and does not require training data, unlike generative AI.

I only appreciate AI as an assistive tool in art. People claiming generative AI images as their own do not fall into this category, and I consider them plagiarisers. Additionally, the unethical scraping that continues to this day is terrible for artists. I don’t want my work to used to train AI, only to then be accused of using AI.

Unfortunately, the aim of most companies using AI is to save money by taking shortcuts in the process by replacing humans, which is how you ruin your products and services. YouTube’s moderation is a great example of this.
Accessibility in art is also not achieved through replacing humans - it is achieved through enabling them. Disabled artists in history have painted with their mouths, feet, and/or shoulders, to name a few examples.

I have no interest in crypto/NFT, and believe NFT in particular is a scam for most people. It may have worked in the beginning, but it is run by people who pump and dump now.

Projects

Here’s an overview of the projects I maintain. Click the titles for links to the projects!

Final Fantasy 11: Jasmint’s HD Textures

Making the in-game player character models look more like their character creation counterparts. Eventually, I plan to also overhaul other NPCs and equipment.

Garuda Linux Wallpapers

Painting up some wallpapers for Garuda Linux, and maybe other Linux distributions in the future as well.
For now, this project has been shelved for the forseeable future.
